(Kildimo x Leya of Weatheroak) Grey Sparkle, by the “all Blunt” Kildimo leased by Maureen de Popp at her Milla Laquen Stud. I bought Sparkle on the strength of the mare Klinta Salma. Sparkle is out of a mare called Leya of Weatheroak who carries close lines to Indian Magic and Ludo and is from the “N” line which I did not have in my stud. She has bred the exceptional filly, Binley Sparkling Gilt, sold to an endurance home. Sparkle is now on loan to Samantha Raikes, in Scotland, where she joins Binley Golden Flame.
Princey continues to top ridden successes with three Championship titles:
(Prince Sadik x Silvern Dream) The stud was very fortunate to have the stunningly beautiful mare, Silvern Pearl, a favourite at Binley. She had her first foal in 2007, a chestnut colt with outstanding action by Grecian Idyll and is therefore a combination of the two main stallions at Binley. Binley Golden Flame was sold to Scotland, an order prior to birth, where he joined the Sa’lilah son at Samantha Raikes small stud. As she did not conceive for some years, we broke her to saddle and she was immediately out on the roads, not bothererd by any traffic and enjoying the times out. We will miss her greatly and she is a sad loss for the stud.
(Kildimo x Leya of Weatheroak) Grey Sparkle, by the “all Blunt” Kildimo leased by Maureen de Popp at her Milla Laquen Stud. I bought Sparkle on the strength of the mare Klinta Salma. Sparkle was out of a mare called Leya of Weatheroak who carries close lines to Indian Magic and Ludo and is from the “N” line which I did not have in my stud. She bred the exceptional filly, Binley Sparkling Gilt, sold to an endurance home. Sadly, Sparkle is no longer with us.
Sadly with us no more is (Prince Saraph x Sa’lilah) Sema was also on loan from Worth Arabian Stud. She produced for Binley, the two daughters, Simana (retained) and Binley Sala, now at Llain Arabians in Wales. She also bred for Binley the lovely gelding, Binley Silver Spark. Whilst at Worth, she produced the daughters, Samira, owned by Vale Arabians and Sabera, owned by Samantha Raikes in Scotland. She was a smaller version of her mother, and had a very gentle nature which she passed on to her daughters.
Shuja at 4 years old, now owned by Rosie Fearnley.
(Silvern Prince x Simana) Binley Shuja is the first foal of Silvern Prince and Simana. She combines a double cross to Silvern Dream being a grand-daughter of Silvern Image and a great-granddaughter of Silvern Idyll. Simana is by Prince Iman, also bred at Binley and the only direct descendant of Princess Gaila (Brit. Nat. Champion General Gold x Princess Alia). Silvern Prince is competing well under saddle. Shuja has been sold to Rosemary Fearnley of Manor Farm Arabians, Denton, Harleston, Norfolk.
It is the aim of the stud to produce stallions capable of breeding performance horses. With this in mind the stud acquired from Toni Thorogood in 1993 the grey son of Princess Alia and Silver Gauntlet, Prince Sadik bred by Rosemary Archer of Worth Arabian Stud. In 2002, Sadik attained Merit status as a Premium Stallion through his many offspring competing in ridden competition. The stud was keen to obtain a stallion with Ludo in the pedigree and through Silver Gauntlet, (Rajeyd x Silver Mantle), together with the same blood coming through his grand-dam Princess Troubadour (a full sister to Ludo), a double cross of this blood was found. Sadik threw good bone, outstanding action and excellent temperaments. He always stood at public stud and was much admired by the general horse community. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sadik, a true prince. Read his obituary.
BINLEY PRINCE IQBAL
(Prince Sadik x Ismala) The successful combination of the Silvern Dream family with the blood of Prince Sadik has never failed and continues to breed outstanding horses with exceptional movement. Iqbal has recently been sold to Shahwan Park Arabians in Australia and it is hoped that he will cross well with the mares in Australia. Iqbal was shown lightly in the UK taking 3rd place at his first show in a strong Crabbet class, and being the only youngster. He was part of the Princess Muna family group of Silvern Image presented at the AHS Nationals this year.
BINLEY GOLDEN FLAME
(Grecian Idyll x Silvern Pearl) Flame was sold before he was born. Well, that was only if he came out a chestnut colt which he did. Samantha Raikes in Scotland had been looking for a pure Crabbet colt and on knowing what mares were in foal at Binley she chose a chestnut son of Silvern Pearl by Grecian Idyll. Surprisingly Pearl must have understood and produced Flame for her at the first attempt. Flame is Silvern Pearl’s first foal and was shown in 2007 at the Crabbet Show with his mother. He has excellent action, a sweet and kind temperament and good conformation. Binley Golden Flame has gone to Samantha Raikes at Turriff in Scotland.
BINLEY SPARKLING GILT
(Grecian Idyll x Grey Sparkle) Filly. Binley Sparkling Gem has been sold to Amanda Barton as a future endurance mare in the New Forest.
(Prince Sadik x Ismala) Ishara was not shown as a yearling but came out as a 2 year old and went to the Wessex Summer Show C and took 5th place in the 2 year old fillies and then won the 3 Generations British Bred, beating stallions down the line. She then went to the first ever Crabbet Show and won the 2 year old filly class and took the Reserve High Point for the Pure Bred Crabbet. She will take part in the 4 Year Old Futurity at the National Show in 2008 and the Princess Muna Saddle of Honour Group class.
Congratulations to Jo Corby, of Hertfordshire, on her purchase of Ishara.
Part Bred, Ishcol Chardyll (Zac) by Grecian Idyll out of Ishcol Charisse competing in Endurance and ridden by Toni Barbour. Zac also competes in dressage and jumping. Photo by Eric Jones.
Prince Iman, now 15 years old was the first colt to be bred at Binley Arabian Stud and the only son of Princess Gaila. He is currently on lease to Bordsley Palomino Stud with Paul and Sandra Norris. He is breeding palomino foals for the Norris's and you can see two of his children below. For the current stud season, please contact them on 01386 793162.
